As part of the Midwest Democracy Network’s website privacy policy, no personal information will be collected about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information.

Here is how MDN handles information about your visit to our website:

Information Collected and Stored Automatically
If all you do during your visit is browse through the website, read pages, or download information, the only information the site will gather and store about your visit is the following information:

> The IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access the web site;

This information is used for site management purposes—to learn about the areas of the site that are of the most and least interest, the number of visitors to the site, and the types of technology visitors use.

For users that simply browse and download information, we do not track or record any personal information about you or your visit.

If You Send Personal Information
If you choose to provide MDN with personal information—such as if you send us an email or you fill out a form with your personal information and submit it through MDN’s website—we collect and store your email address and the content of your communication in order to consider and, as appropriate, reply to your communication. Receiving MDN E-newsletters and News Releases
When you subscribe to MDN’s e-newsletter and news releases lists, we will use your email address to send you regular emails. You may unsubscribe to Spotcheck at anytime by following the instructions contained at the end of every Spotcheck. You may also opt out of receiving future mailings at any time by contacting MDN at the mailing address provided below. We will not share any of the personal information that you provide to subscribe to our email lists with third parties.

Opting Out and Modifying Information
We provide users the opportunity to opt out of receiving any further communications from us when they receive e-newsletters. We also give users the option of contacting us at any time to remove their information from our database or to stop receiving future distributions of MDN updates or notifications.

Information on Children
We do not ask children 13 and under for any identifying information. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children 13 and under.

MDN’s website contains links, some of which are to other sites. Once you link to another site, you are subject to the privacy policy of the new site.

Unauthorized use, tampering with or modification of this system—or its supporting hardware or software—may violate federal or other statutes and may subject the violator to criminal and civil penalties. In the event of unauthorized intrusion, all relevant information regarding possible violation of law may be provided to law enforcement officials.
