Smear groups spend nearly $1.3 million in Wisconsin races

The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign released a report last week stating that special interest groups spent $1.27 million on negative television ads during the state Supreme Court race.

According to the report, outside groups put considerable funds towards helping to elect Shirley Abrahamson and Tony Evers. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin spent $15,129, Madison Teachers Incorporated spent $448 and Kenosha Education spent $129. Money was spent on newspaper ads and automated calls and mailings.
