Report analyzes money in healthcare debate

The Public Campaign Action Fund released this July “Advancing Healthcare Reform Through the Swamp of $187 Million in Iterested Political Money,” which examines how special interests and lobbyists are influencing elected officials in charge of reforming the healthcare system.
Among the report’s highlights are that elected officials on five committees working on healthcare reform have received $187 million in campaign contributions from health and insurance interests throughout the officials’ careers. In the two committees most involved with the crafting of the reform legislation, members have received $100 million from health and insurance interests. The Washington Post writes about the study here. The Public Campaign Action Fund released this press release about the report, which can be read as a pdf in it’s entirety here.
