Video highlights dangers of rolling back federal campaign finance regulations
Public Citizen released a video detailing what could happen if the Supreme Court decides to allow unlimited corporate money in politics.
Corporate interests could change the outcome of such major issues as climate change legislation, health care reform, consumer protections and Internet neutrality.
On Sept. 9 the Court will hear arguments in Citizens United v. the Federal Election Commission to determine whether campaigns could receive funding from corporations 60 days before an election.
The case stems from a documentary, “Hilary: The Movie,” made by Citizens United, opponents of then New York Sen. Hilary Clinton. The film covered Clinton’s record in the Senate, as First Lady and during her bid for the presidential Democratic nominee.
Anyone interested in demonstrating during the time of the hearing on Sept. 9 can share how they pledge to do so at Public Citizen’s web site. Share information on the Citizens United case by sending friends, family and colleagues an email of the video.
