Rep. Paul wants right to vote out federal justices

Texas Rep. Ron Paul told a University of Iowa crowd that Americans should have the same right to remove federal judges as Iowans did with their historic vote last November to remove three State Supreme Court justices.

“At the federal level, I think we ought to have the same rights you do in Iowa,” Paul told the crowd, according to the Iowa City Press-Citizen. Paul said removing federal judges is unlikely though and the Federal Court has “improved its ruling on private property.”

Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty and other potential Republican presidential candidates spoke to around 2,000 conservatives in Iowa.

According to CBS News, Gingrich complained that judges are “fundamentally out of touch with America” and argued that Republicans have failed to keep the judiciary from becoming “more alienated from the American system.”
