Redistricting reform bills introduced in Michigan House

Bills sponsored by Rep. John Walsh, R-Livonia, and Rep. Mark Meadows, D-East Lansing, would move map-drawing responsibilities to the Legislative Service Bureau.  According to MIRS Capital Capsule, “the Meadows bill would only apply to the state’s legislative districts, while the Walsh bill would apply LSB-driven redistricting to Michigan‘s congressional districts.”

Common Cause Michigan Executive Director Christina Kuo and the Brennan Center‘s Myrna Perez, provided testimony at the April 13 hearing,  along with representatives of the League of Women Voters of Michigan. For more, read these news clips. Check out Perez’s testimony.
