Network partner gets mention in Nonprofit Quarterly

Network partner Wisconsin Democracy Network, along with five other organizations from across the country, got a nod from Nonprofit Quarterly. NPQ notes that most of the nonprofits that get publicity provide social services, but there is another group of nonprofits that do not always get as much attention, particularly from charitable and philanthropic donors: watchdog groups. Looking specifically at watchdogs, NPQ had this to say about Wisconsin Democracy Campaign:
The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign reports that in the nine recent state Senate recall elections held in Wisconsin, candidates and special interests spent between $35 and $40 million, the equivalent of $45 to $52 for each of the 769,000 votes cast.
Also highlighted in the post are the Montana Policy Institute, Californians Aware, California Common Sense, and Project on Government Oversight (POGO). The article closes by stating, “The existence of nonprofit watchdogs strengthens American democracy.”
