Michigan PAC contributions may have pulled beer tax off table
As Michigan finds itself in budget season, legislators were quick to pass on the possibility of raising the state’s beer tax, which currently sits around one percent.
According to the Lansing State Journal, this may be due to the $1.5 million the Michigan Beer and Wine Wholesalers has donated over the years to the 95th Legislature and various political action committees. It could also stem from the several fundraisers hosted by the Beer and Wine Wholesalers.
